Gooey Cake

This is an old Scarberry family favorite. My mother in law would make it for a quick dessert on a week night. Most of the items should be on hand, so it's an easy go to when you need something sweet. One of our sons often requests this for his birthday. It is so rich and gooey, hence the name. This recipe can be made with any cake mix flavor. Yellow has always been our favorite.

1 box yellow cake mix

2 sticks unsalted butter

1 3/4 C. cugar

1 can evaporated milk

1 tsp. vanilla

Prepare cake according to package directions. Bake in 9x13 pan. In a large saucepan bring the butter, sugar, and milk to a rolling boil. boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid scorching. Remove from heat and add vanilla. With the end of a wooden spoon, poke holes in the top of the cake. Pour hot sugar mixture over the cake. Let set a while before serving.

Enjoy!

Ann
